Joseph F. McCabe, Jr., 81, died on June 30, 2010. He left Doylestown High School (now Central Bucks West) in 1946 to enter the U. S. Army as a paratrooper. After 2 years, he switched services to the United States Marine Corps where he completed his service in 1952. McCabe worked in sales for a few years, but found his passion in 1956 when he joined the Upper Moreland Township Police force. Joe’s outgoing personality quickly made him a highly visible figure in the community. He rose through the ranks becoming Deputy Chief of Police in 1972. Joe retired in 1982 to become the Court Crier for the Honorable Gerald Corso, Common Pleas Judge for Montgomery County. He retired after 10 years of service to the County. Even today, after 18 years, Joe is fondly remembered around the courthouse for his quick wit, warm personality, and genuine interest in people.
McCabe is survived by his wife Nancy (McAndrews), his children Patricia Paris, Thomas (Gisele), Joseph (Diane), Kelli El Khbiri (Magdi,) Phillip (Marion) Brett (Tonya). Fifteen grandchildren, Four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass on Tuesday July 6, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. John Bosco RC Church, 235 E. County Line Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. Visitation from 9:30 AM. Interment to follow in St. John Nuemann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
