Gerald “Gerry” B. Hansford passed away at age 81 on June 29, 2018. He was surrounded by his family in his home in Willow Grove. He was the husband of Terry Walther Hansford for 49 years.
Gerry was born in Philadelphia to the late Wilbur M. and Marie E. Welsch Hansford. He graduated from Abington H.S. where he played basketball and baseball and ran cross country. He then served 4 years in the Air Force. He loved watching all sports and was a passionate golfer. He enjoyed leisurely drives and RVing with his family across country.
Gerry was the owner of Hansford Mobil Service Station in Abington for 25 years and worked for U-Haul in Warrington for the next 10 years. After retiring in 2005, he and his wife spent winters in North Myrtle Beach.
Gerry will be greatly missed by his wife and 8 children: Ken Hansford, Kristine Taylor, Kimberly Burd and husband Russ, Karen Readinger and husband Todd, Britta Derstine, Blythe Bealer and husband Jason, Morgen Verdecchio, Brandon Hansford; and grandchildren: Jennifer, Nichole, Shawn, Lauren, Alexi, Brook, Ashley, Marlie, Jacob, Mason, Julia, Jadyn, Vanessa, Logan; and great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Ashton, Aliyah, Jordan, Adrianna, Ella, Emmie; and his brother-in-law and best friend, Jack McAfee.
Gerry was predeceased by his sister, Jean McAfee, and son-in-law, Thomas Derstine.
Memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
