MANN, Alan M., of Audubon, NJ, on October 8, 2024. Coach Mann, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Bernard and Helen (nee Marcus) Mann, is survived by daughters Mary Kay Mann (Jim), Carolyn DeAngelo (Mark), and Barbara Mann (Philip), along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Milena, who liked to bake him cupcakes. He is also survive by his cat Scooter. He is predeceased by his wife Patricia (nee Gavin) and his son Robert Mann.
Coach Mann received a BA from West Chester State Teachers’ College and a Master of Education in Social Studies from the University of Delaware, along with additional graduate credits from Villanova University and Temple University. He taught various social studies classes, mostly history, in secondary schools in PA, DE and NJ for 45 years and coached basketball for 38 years, including as a head coach for 26 years on the high school level, first at Great Valley HS in PA, then at Christiana HS and Conrad HS in DE, and finally at Woodbury HS in NJ. He was also an assistant-consultant in the basketball program at Atlantic Cape Community College, where he taught humanities after retiring from Woodbury HS.
Over the course of his career, Coach Mann was selected Coach of the Year in PA, DE and South Jersey. He was inducted into the Woodbury NJ High School Hall of Fame in 2007 and the South Jersey Coaches' Association Hall of Fame in 2015. He proudly served as Master of Ceremonies at the annual West Chester University Men's Basketball Banquet for over 20 years. Alan also left his mark as a singer and entertainer, performing at various locations to the delight of many. He has over 2000 followers on TikTok who made him very happy in his final years by giving him a listen and a lot of love.
