Amelia "Melin" Gómez  Fey Obituary

FEY

Amelia "Melin" Gómez

Born in 1932, Huesca, Spain and died peacefully on September 13, 2024 in Meadowbrook, PA.  Loving wife of the late Ralph C. Fey and sister to Nieves (Tini) Gómez Español.  Beloved mother of Jennifer Brinton Robkin (David), Richard, Corinne (deceased) and Peter Brinton, grandmother to Corinne and Ari Robkin, Monica McCuen (Matt) and Anneliese Brinton. Great-grandmother to Maria, Emma, Molly, Max McCuen and Rafi Angelini. A dear aunt to her nieces and nephews in Madrid, Spain.

Melin was raised in a military family and spent fifteen years in Melilla, Spain. In 1949 she and her sister received scholarships to attend colleges in the US. Melin had very fond memories of her year at Nazareth College in Kentucky, where she excelled in painting and always loved to tell the story of how her art teacher gave her the keys to the art room and allowed her to use it whenever she wished. On her flight from Spain to New York, is where she met her first husband, Richard Brinton and settled in Meadowbrook to raise a family.  Her youngest son Peter was born in Barcelona, when the family moved to Spain for a couple of years.

Returning home to Meadowbrook, she then began to work at The Berlitz School of Languages and loved teaching Spanish, as well as translating for the Bucks County District Court system. She would go on to meet her second husband, Ralph, an engineer with Ford Aerospace and with him, travel to Egypt and spend five years living in Cairo.  These were the happiest of times for the couple, as they traveled extensively, enjoyed entertaining and partying with many international people that they met. Melin was also a gifted artist, painting colorful depictions of her travels, portraits, still lifes and landscapes.  In the earlier years, when she first moved to this country she was part of a women's group, made up primarily of Hispanic speaking women, from Mexico, Cuba, Spain, Colombia, etc. and they would remain loyal friends for life.  Melin's most devoted love and pride was reserved for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember her as their Mamá Melín. Memorial services will be private and held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
