Our beloved Bonnie, known to many as mom, me-mom, daughter, sister and wife, slipped peacefully away after a brave struggle with cancer. She is survived by her parents Margaret and John Tuman, her husband Michael Grassey, her brother John Tuman (Patty), her daughters Danielle (Joe), Samantha (Julian), Allison (Matt), and Nicole, her Grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
Family was everything to Bonnie. She lived for precious moments spent with her grandchildren, nephew, and niece. Even on her hardest days, her grandchildren would always bring a huge smile to her face. When she wasn’t busy working on a spreadsheet for her next vacation, she spent a lot of her free time with her family, especially her parents. Bonnie also cherished her friends, who she enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing and shopping with. If you didn’t know, Bonnie was also extremely enthusiastic and very competitive in cards and board games.
In Bonnie’s professional life, her career was incredibly important to her and she was deeply respected by her colleagues and staff. Bonnie was hospitalized at Abington Hospital during her last few days and it was only through the overwhelming number of colleagues, work friends, doctors and nurses who visited that we realized the immense impact Bonnie had on “thousands and thousands of patients”. Bonnie didn’t just have a career, she had a passion.
Bonnie was truly a joy to everyone who knew her. Her smile, infectious laugh, and her kindness will be forever remembered and she will always be missed.
If you’d like to make a donation in Bonnie’s honor, we have two organizations that are near and dear to our hearts. The family has requested no flowers please.
An annual scholarship —The Bonnie Tuman Grassey Scholarship —has been established to help a preschool child from an impoverished region in Guatemala. The organization was meaningful to Bonnie because her daughters, Danielle and Nicole, were personally engaged in traveling to and supporting the school, Bendicion De Dios. OR
We invite you to make a donation to St Jude’s children’s hospital, as Bonnie always had a special place in her heart for babies and children.
