Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Carol B. Whatley. On May 31, 2023 she peacefully passed away with family nearby.
Carol was born on July 14, 1943 in Philadelphia. She grew up with her parents and graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She married Frank and together, they had two children, and built a wonderful life.
Throughout her life, Carol was an avid reader and loved spending time in her garden. She was a kind and generous person who had a passion for supporting the health, wellness, of the family unit and defending womens' rights.
Despite the challenges she faced in her life, Carol remained a positive and optimistic person, and exhibited admirable strength in the face of a great challenge. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children Janice Verrillo (Anthony) and Kimberly Lawson (William), as a mother, Carol was loving, kind, and selfless. She dedicated her life to raising her children, providing them with a safe and nurturing home, and instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and compassion. She was always there for her children, no matter what, and was always ready with a listening ear, a warm hug, and a word of advice. Her grandchildren, Dylan, Cecilia, Meredith, Allison, and John, were the light of her life and she cherished moments spent with them.
Carol will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Rest in peace, Carol, Mom, Nan. You will always be in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Saturday June 17, 2023 at 10:30am at St Jerome's Church, 8100 Colfax St # 1, Philadelphia, PA 19136. There will be a visitation before Mass from 9:30am to 10:15am.
