Catherine T. Rickard (Danaher) 93 years old of Roslyn, PA peacefully passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 with her family by her side. Catherine left this world just the way she lived her entire life with grace, beauty, dignity and class.
Catherine was born on January 15, 1932 in Wyndmoor, PA to Catherine and Thomas Danaher. Catherine attended Seven Dolors Catholic grade school in Wyndmoor, PA and Notre Dame Catholic HS for girls in Flourtown, PA
Catherine was a proud and doting mother to her 4 children from her former marriage to Norman (Bud) Rickard. She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Craig (Cathy) Rickard, Larry (Lisa) Rickard, Elizabeth Jane/BJ/Betty Jane (Jim) Murphy and Wayne Rickard. Catherine also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Christina Johnson, Nicole Penna, Lawrence Rickard, Corie Rickard, Brandon Rickard, Catie Rickard, Rachel DiStanislao, Jimmy Murphy, Maddie Rickard and Jake Rickard along with 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Thomas Danaher, her siblings, Mary Lutz, Joseph Danaher, Thomas Danaher, John Danaher, Edward Danaher, Daniel Danaher, Robert Danaher, Margaret (Peggy) Rickard and Patsy Plummer along with her daughter-in-law Maureen Rickard.
Being raised in an Irish Catholic family Catherine was a devout Catholic with an extremely strong faith in God.
Catherine (Cass) was known to have the best legs in town. She was an avid dancer, loved music and was the head majorette in her home town Drum and Bugle Corp. during her teenage years.
Upon graduating high school Catherine was a secretary at Stotesbury mansion. But Catherine’s true passion and true calling was becoming a mother. Catherine loved being a mom, grandmom and great-grandmom. Her family was her priority. Catherine was the heartbeat of the family and the home.
Catherine always made sure her children were healthy, happy and safe. She was an amazing mother who was always there when her kids needed her most. In time of crisis is when you saw just how very strong a person she was. No matter how old her children got, she was always there when her children needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and an abundance of love. Neighborhood kids along with her children's high school and college friends all felt Catherine's love. She was always looking out the front door making sure the neighborhood kids were safe when they were outside playing. She treated all children like they were her own with care, love and kindness. You would find her up many nights making Steak-Um cheesesteaks for whatever friends were lucky enough to be sleeping over that night. She loved a household of young people.
Catherine will be missed greatly by many but mostly by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their hearts are filled with immense sadness but there is comfort in knowing that she is keeping them all under her watchful eye from heaven. Good Night, Sleep tight Mommy……..
