Charles Sievers passed on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his more recent home at Brookside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Charles moved to Brookside in September 2019, after living many years in Fulmore Heights and Willow Grove and Abington previously.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester Sievers, and Caroline Sievers (nee Reed).
Charles is survived by many friends throughout Willow Grove & Philadelphia areas.
Charles joined the Willow Grove UMC as a professing member in April 1954, and was a member for over 65 years. He worked for over 20 years as a chef and cook at Rydal Park, into the mid 1990s. He filled many of his later years, serving the community through the collection and redistribution of food to impoverished and needy communities. He also regularly provided rides for a number of people, giving them mobility they may not have otherwise had, and visiting shut-ins, until such a point as he was no longer able to do so.
As a member of WGUMC he regularly participated over the years in the Adult Sunday School class, Methodist Men & Friendly Group, and served as an Usher. Attached below is both a painting of the Lord's Supper he himself proudly painted (following a paint-by-number pattern) and a reflection he offered in November 2011 to the WGUMC "Seasons of Our Lives: Our Faith Journey" publications.
Arrangements for a Memorial and/or Graveside Service are still be worked out, in conjunction with Bryers Funeral Home and his legal representation, Mark Semisch.
Please hold our community and Charles' memory your prayers at this time.
Donations in Charles memorial would be greatly to Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 Old York Rd, Willow Grove, PA 19090
Peace,
Pastor Lorelei
