Diana DeMirjian McGarvey:
Diana was born September 23rd, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. She died at home on May 7th, 2020 at the age of 76 in Abington, PA with her husband of 34 years, William J. McGarvey, by her side, of complications from a stroke. Beautiful on the inside and outside, the world is now diminished by her passing. Cherished by her son Jack Mehlbaum, daughter in-law Michele, and grandsons, Stephen and Patrick, who brought much joy to Diana. She was a devoted daughter to her parents Meline and Krikor DeMirjian, sister to Gilbert, Edmund, and George. Her nieces Janice, Lynne, nephews Gilbert, and George. She had an open heart, prepared to befriend and love all who she came in contact with. Proud of her Armenian faith and heritage, Diana was a long time active member in Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, in Cheltenham, PA. She loved to volunteer at her church, Abington Hospital, The Philadelphia Flower Show, and the local arts community. Diana loved to patronize the Philadelphia Museum of Art, travel, dance, laugh, spend time with her friends, was always there for her family, and especially was an important presence in her grandson’s lives.
She attended Northeast High School and was the salutatorian of her graduating class. Went on to Peirce Junior College, worked in Center City Philadelphia at FMC Corporation, Lanard & Axilbund, The Warwick Hotel, and retired from The Union League of Philadelphia in 2011. Diana was the sweetest, most wonderful person, and the best wife a man could ever want. She enriched the lives of all who new her, will be missed dearly by her family, son Jack, friends, and especially her loving husband Bill.
