February 9, 1951- June 6, 2023

Donald Meyer, 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home on June 6, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shirley (Daniels), and his children Alicia Potena (Peter) and Dan Meyer (Abbey). He was a dearly loved PopPop to his two grandchildren, Damien and Elena. He was the cherished brother of Ken (Kate) and Elizabeth Meyer, and predeceased by his parents, Sven Olaf and Harriet (Schmauder). He was also a brother-in-law to Patricia (Ronald) Niehaus, Michael (Helen) Daniels, Frank (Linda) Daniels, and Robert (Florence) Daniels, and “Uncle Don” to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Don was a graduate of Upper Moreland High School (Class of 1970), the Culinary Institute of America (‘72), and The University of New Haven (‘74). He worked in the food industry for many years and was an amazing chef known for his shrimp scampi. He was an immensely talented singer and songwriter and followed this passion throughout his life. He released two albums and performed at countless local venues and family weddings. 

Don’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family and enjoying being together around the fire pit. He was known for his contagious smile, ability to tell a good joke, and positive outlook on life. He was a loyal friend to many and loved by many.

In Don’s first album, he wrote, “It doesn’t make any sense to me to get to your last day on this earth and say ‘I wish I had or I should have’. We only have one shot at this thing we call life and we never know when it is going to end. So… Commit to your dreams… Never Look Back!”

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. David Church, 316 N. Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Visitation will be in the church from 9:30-10:30 am.

Interment will be private.
