Donna Frances Broadbent was born on May 11, 1948 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She died in hospice surrounded by family after a years long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and problems with breathing and eating. Her son Douglas sang her to her eternal home with songs including a favorite of hers, “Be Thou My Vision” as well as “Angel Band.” She received last rites from Father Rymdeika shortly before taking her last breaths.
Donna was dedicated to family life, starting with her mother Mary “Grammy” Oesterle, her sister Florence Howling, her brother Butch Mee, and her husband Ron and two children Michael “Mitch” and Douglas. As her sister’s family grew to include nieces Colleen Wipplinger, Sandy Fell, and Katlyn “Kate” Howling, nephew Daniel “Dan” Howling, and brother-in-law Robert Howling, she spent much time helping gather family together to enjoy company and reinforce the bonds of love over the years. A faithful Catholic, she taught core values of gentility, empathy, and compassion to her sons Michael and Douglas that have become crucial to the shape of both of their lives, and remain an enduring legacy in the family.
Donna was preceded in death by her sister Florence Howling. She is survived by her brother Butch Mee, sons Michael “Mitch” and Douglas, their respective spouses Danielle and Bryan, and cherished grandchildren Darby, Shea, Mollie, and Lochlainn.
