Elaine S. (Sacco) Greenwald

Elaine Greenwald (nee Sacco) of Lafayette Hill, born November 16, 1936 to the late Elsie Sacco and Louis Sacco peacefully passed after a prolonged illness on Saturday, January 26, 2025.  She has now joined her beloved husband of 49 years, the late Richard C. Greenwald, in eternal rest in the Lord. She was a loving aunt to Theodore (Dixie) Greenwald, great aunt to Derek (Nikki) Greenwald and great great aunt to Chloe, Parker and Alex. Elaine shared a close relationship with her late husband’s Goddaughter Marie (Joe) Kania and enjoyed many family holiday celebrations with them and their children and grandchildren.

She was a proud graduate of Germantown High School in 1954.  Immediately after high school graduation, she worked for the Continental American Life Insurance Company in Center City for 17 years. Soon afterward, she continued to work in insurance for Palley Simon Associates for 25 years .  

She greatly enjoyed an European trip with her girlfriends before marriage visiting London, Paris, and Rome. During this trip, they were unexpectedly able to get an audience with Pope Pius XII at his summer residence which was the highlight of her trip.

After marriage, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Richard, and his cousin and wife, John and Elaine Walsh of Colorado; cruising rivers and oceans, hiking down mountains, visiting the USA, Europe, and Canada. 

A devout Catholic, Elaine and Richard volunteered to help their parishes and contributed to many charities. Elaine was especially generous in helping women and children’s charities.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday January 30, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:15am at St. David RC Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove PA 19090.  Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am.

Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
