Elvira Vivian (Sgarra) Szymanski, 93, peacefully entered eternal life on July 23rd, 2022. She was surrounded by family and love at her home in Warminster, PA. She was born on May 11, 1929 in New York City to parents Andrew and Florence (Cuccinotti) Sgarra. She spent her early years growing up in Corona, New York and later moved to South Philadelphia. Vivian graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1947. She went on to work for ITE Circuit Breakers in Philadelphia, where she met the love of her life, Edward Szymanski. They married on Oct 30, 1955 and spent 41 happily married years together until his passing in 1996.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Andrea S. Macrone (Stephen) and her son, E. Mark Szymanski. Vivian is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Valerie Schoepe (Robert), Victoria Macrone, her great-grandchildren Sophia and Luke Schoepe, and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize and thank Mrs. Brenda Toomer for her dedicated care and support she has given Ms. V over the last 7 years, forever appreciated.
Vivian enjoyed an active life traveling throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, as well as cruising the Pacific ocean, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean Sea. She was active with bowling, her shooting club, The American Dot Shooters Association, and golfing every week with her lifelong girlfriends. She also worked for the Hatboro-Horsham School District and was a volunteer at both Abington Memorial and Holy Redeemer Hospital. Vivian’s greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She loved each and every one of them in her own unique way. Her love for our family has given us special memories we will cherish forever.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Szymanski and her brother, Richard Sgarra.
