With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Ethel (Porter) Kemmerer, who departed this life on April 28, 2025 at the age of 80 after a brief illness. Ethel was a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and resilience.
Ethel was born April 12, 1945 to William and Mary Porter in Jenkintown, PA. She was the youngest of seven children, including brothers William, Edward, Richard, and David (Bobby) Porter and sisters Kay (Muscatell) and Mary (Kaupp).
Ethel attended St. David Elementary School and graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School. She completed her education as an X-Ray Technologist at Abington Hospital and spent her working years in the medical field at various hospitals and private practices.
She found joy in the simple and the beautiful- whether it was through her love of sewing and baking, where her hands created gifts and sweet treats for many special occasions, or in her passion for traveling, which filled her soul with adventure. Her life was filled with kindness, and she never hesitated to help family, friends & others in need. Ethel was a beacon of positivity, despite numerous challenges throughout her life, including losing both parents in a fire as a teen, and working multiple jobs as a single mother.
Ethel’s love for her family was the foundation of everything she did. She leaves behind her daughter Kris, son Charles, daughter-in-law Heather, and granddaughter Cassidy in addition to many nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
Her warmth, grace, and gentle wisdom will never be forgotten.
Services for Ethel will be held May 8, 2025 at St. David Church on Easton Road in Willow Grove. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 with mass beginning at 10:30. To reflect the light and love that Ethel brought into our lives, we invite you to wear bright colors that celebrate her joyful and vibrant spirit. Details regarding internment & a luncheon will be shared with friends and family.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ethel’s memory to St. Jude School, Chalfont, PA.
