Dr. Evgenia Movsesova
In Loving Memory
A loving Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt and Daughter - Evgenia Movsesova passed away early Sunday morning, June 4, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born in Kirovabad, Azerbaijan SSR, on September 28, 1931.
Evgenia was a very accomplished individual who lived her life with the desire to serve others. Early in life, aided by her passion and drive to help others, Evgenia - a strong, dedicated and hardworking woman - allowed nothing to deter her from her chosen career path of becoming a medical doctor. After graduating primary school in Kirovabad with a silver medal, she started Medical School in Baku, Azerbaijan. Evgenia then transferred to Yerevan State Medical University in Armenia and graduated in 1955. At that time in medical school, she also met her future husband. Evgenia then began her medical career in Kazakhstan SSR as an Ambulatory Medicine Physician. In 1957, she moved back to Armenia and worked for an approximate year at the Institute of Radiology as a Jr. Scientist Physician. In 1958, she married Dr. Stephan Sarkisian and shifted her career to work at Scientific Research Institute of Spa Treatment and Physical Medicine as an Arthrologist in Arthro-Cardiology Department, which she managed from 1976 until her retirement in 1991. During her tenure at the Research Institute, in 1971, Evgenia defended her PhD dissertation "Treatment of patients with infectious nonspecific polyarthritis in Spa Jermuk". Further, just prior to retiring, Evgenia was diagnosed with, and survived, breast cancer. In addition to these accomplishments, throughout her career, Evgenia authored and co-authored 62 research papers and publications. In 1975, after the death of her husband, Evgenia dedicated her life to her sons and her patients – and later in life, her grandchildren. In 1993, Evgenia moved to the United States with her family. Evgenia Movsesova loved her family, her friendships, and singing her favorite song “Ov Sirun Sirun” to her last days.
Evgenia will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Gevork and wife Natalia, and Ka’Ren and wife Nune, her four grandchildren Yevgenia (Jenny), Karine, Stephan and Stephan, and her great-granddaughter Margaret.
She also will be lovingly remembered by her niece Anzhela, cousins Ina, Stepan, Rafael, Anton, many Great-Nephews and Grandnieces, her many relatives, friends and neighbors.
