Francis was born in Wilmington Delaware but was a true Philadelphian after his family moved to Germantown at a young age. He had a love for Philadelphia and the history that surrounded the city. Francis graduated from North Catholic and attended Curtis Institute for a short time to pursue a dream of being a concert violinist. He was then drafted into the Army where he attended Linguist school beginning his service in the armed services. After serving in the Army, Francis began his career as a Logic Design Engineer-Communication Control Systems for Philco, where he was part of the team that built the first transistor computer. Francis moved into the marketing/sales area where he “reestablished Fischer and Porter in the power generation industry”. He continued his career in the fossil and nuclear power generation industry working for Computer Products and retiring from Metso. He was an active member of Saint Catherine of Siena as a lector for many years. Francis was an avid golfer and instilled the love of the game in many of his grandchildren. His passion for music lasted a lifetime, attending many concerts with friends and family, and attending the Philly Pops with his daughters. Francis was married to Carol for 39 years, and enjoyed a marriage filled with laughter, travel and passion. He was loved by his family and continued the loving spirit he and Carol created, leaving behind a legacy of love for family.
