James "Jim" Harrington of Philadelphia passed away on June 23, 2026. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Levittown, Jim dedicated more than 20 years to public education as a teacher and coach. He was known for his wry sense of humor and for always lending a hand-or, more likely a ride to anyone in need.
Jim deeply loved his children Gina (44) and Jimmy (40) and took great pride in his three grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved younger siblings, Michael, Mary, Nora, and Peggy, all of wom inherited a bit of his unique humor. He was preceded in death by his brother Danny who he loved.
Jim battled addiction issues throughout his life but later found purpose in recovery, dedicating himself to building community and supporting others. As treasurer of his recovery group he helped others navigate similar challenges forming lasting friendships along the way.
