James (Jim) McDonnell, 64, of Abington, passed away on March 30th, 2024, following a brave battle with cancer.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Kamps (Tyler) and grandson Nolan. He was preceded in death by his brother, John McDonnell. Jim had amazing families who cared for him as their own throughout his life, including the Freedman Family and the Smith Family, both of whom he loved dearly.
To know Jim was to love him. His smile was infectious, and he went out of his way to help others, no questions asked. He was happiest while riding his beloved motorcycle, which led to his title of ‘Pop Pop Bike’ by his grandson.
He had many friends who became family. Whether out on a ride, Wednesday night dinners, fixing an AC unit, or enjoying a beer, Jim always made time to be with the people he loved.
Jim was a HVAC specialist who worked for many years at Abington School District. He was a jack of all trades, could fix anything he got his hands on, and loved to solve a problem. In his past, he successfully ran a trucking company and opened a restaurant and bar in Philadelphia.
There will be a visitation Friday morning at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00am at the John J. Bryers Funeral Home at 406 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
