Jeffrey Bishop Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Bishop, who departed this life on July 9, 2025, at the age of 54.

Jeffrey was born on October 26, 1970, in Texas to Ruth and Barry S. Bishop. He grew up with a loving and devoted sister, Jennifer Barniskis. Since September 16, 1992, Jeffrey had been a beloved member of Lynch Homes, and when the agency transitioned to KenCrest, his support continued seamlessly with the KenCrest family. He was deeply cherished by staff, housemates, and all who had the joy of knowing him.

During his early years, Jeffrey attended Bridgeport Presbyterian Church with his family and family friend Barbara Federici. Though he no longer attended in person in later years, his spiritual connection remained strong through music and quiet reflection. He found great happiness in simple outings—especially trips to the park and pet store with friends.

After moving into Lynch Homes in 1992, Jeffrey participated in the vocational program at ASI, where he enthusiastically took part in maintenance work. Known for his boundless energy, he kept staff on their toes with his spontaneity and lively spirit. He loved the swings in the gym, a good party, and especially looked forward to fish hoagies at ASI. Burger King was another frequent favorite—requested more than once a week! Jeffrey was always helpful to his friends and loved being part of an active, social community. He retired from ASI in 2017 due to changes in his medical needs.

Over time, Jeffrey’s vibrant energy evolved into a calm and laid-back demeanor. He enjoyed quiet days spent watching TV with his housemates, creating art, or relaxing in his favorite recliner while listening to music. He loved the color blue, and anything related to Penn State. A gentle, kind-hearted soul, Jeffrey had a smile that could light up a room and was always ready to hold hands and connect through conversation.

Jeffrey shared an especially close bond with his mother, Ruth, and his sister, Jenn, and he deeply cherished their visits. His gentle presence and warm spirit were a light to all who knew him, leaving behind treasured memories and lasting impressions.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on July 23, 2025 from 10am to 10:30am at the John J. Bryers Funeral Home, 406 Easton Road, Willow Grove PA 19090.  A Memorial Service will follow at 10:30am

Burial of the urn will be held at 12pm at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, 352 S Gulph Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406.  Please meet at the main gate.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Autism Foundation or Autism Speaks in Jeffrey’s memory.
