On February 22nd, 2023, Joan Catherine Ward nee Klaczak passed away surrounded by her family. She was survived by her husband of 61 years, David William Ward, her only daughter and loving caregiver, Karen Gaynor, and her late son-in-law Michael Gaynor. She was also survived by her grandchildren Jonathan and Sara, Michele and Ricky, Elliott, David, Noah, Emma, and Tyler, her great-grandchildren Dillan, Michael, David, Daniel, Bella, and her loving son-in-law and his wife David and Cheryl Richardson, Pat, and Jim Haas, and her godson Ethan Skuse, and her loving and supportive friends. Joan was an avid collector of many things. She enjoyed crafting that showed her creative talents; she enjoyed creating wreaths and other specialty items for family and friends. Joan’s creative talents were also displayed publicly every holiday by the meticulous decorations that she and her husband adorned their family home every holiday. Joan also loved and enjoyed spending time with her parakeets. She was a former member of The Red Hat Society, and she worked for Nazareth Hospital’s accounting and payroll department for 27 years and was the payroll manager for Einstein Hospital for 10 years until she retired in 2008. In the early years of her retirement, Joan and her husband David enjoyed traveling and visiting family members throughout the country.
