Joanne Marie Ellis passed away on Wednesday the 13th of May, 2020 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. She was a long-time resident of the Bucks County area and lived for the past 5 years at Buckingham Rehab and Nursing Center in Buckingham, PA.
Born in 1955 in Philadelphia, PA to George and Julia Ellis, Joanne was a graduate of St. Mary of Providence School in Elverson, PA. She lived in a few group homes and eventually settled in an apartment in Doylestown, PA. Joanne loved her family and had a special bond with her father who passed away in 2010 and now they are together again hopefully running a table at a flea market in heaven!
Joanne had a big personality and loved being social and having fun. She loved the great oldies music from the 50s and 60s and was an impressive singer at karaoke and other events locally, as well as down the shore. She also loved dancing and would always be the first on the dance floor.
Joanne was a very determined and feisty individual. If she wanted to do something or go somewhere, she would make it happen. Once getting a computer, she became very active on Facebook, staying in touch with family and friends. She especially loved sending fancy e-cards through email. Vacationing to the shore was one of Joanne’s favorite things to do - she walked the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ many times shopping for treasures. Joanne was always excited to do arts and crafts and enjoyed making gifts for people.
Joanne was close with her family and loved holidays and special events and family gatherings. Her favorite holiday was Halloween when she would dress in festive attire, help carve pumpkins, set out her dancing and singing Frankenstein and give out candy. She also was the most creative gift giver in the family. Joanne was blessed to have many life long friends including Nancy and Dave Tickel and their children Ruth Anne and Dave, as well as PattyJo Barnes. She shared many memories with the Tickel family at Scott’s Family Resort.
We know that Joanne is now in her glory, walking among her old friends and family, including her forever love, Murray Coleman. We can only wish that she is at peace and living the life she always wanted.
Joanne is survived by her mother, Julia Marie Ellis, brother George Ellis and his wife Gail, sister Sharon Bilyk and her husband George, brother Brian Ellis and his wife Jamie, nephew Bear Smith, niece Christina Ellis, nephew Dan Bilyk and his wife Nicole and their children Evelyn, Nicholas, and Liam, nieces Stephanie Bilyk, Patience Ellis and Jennifer Bilyk.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. John J. Bryers Funeral Home in Willow Grove, PA has been entrusted with private arrangements.
Joanne’s Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date and promises to be a fun party that she would love; there will be singing and dancing and karaoke!
