John Larkin

John Larkin, 71, of Upper Moreland Township, passed away on June 28, 2026. Born on July 14, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA, to Francis Larkin and Rita Larkin, John lived a life defined by devotion to God, his family, professional excellence, and a spirit of adventure.

A calm and dependable presence, John was known for his helpful nature and quiet strength. He offered support without fanfare, kindness without expectation, and steadiness that grounded everyone around him. His character was felt through the gentle, unwavering way he lived his life. Family was the foundation of John’s world, and he demonstrated his devotion through constant, wholehearted involvement. His greatest joy came from being a husband for 42 years, father, and grandfather, roles he embraced with profound love and dedication.

An avid outdoorsman, John embraced adventure with enthusiasm. He enjoyed white water kayaking, scuba diving, and skiing, finding joy in the challenge and beauty of each experience in the world God created. Also, John contributed his expertise to the community through his work as a Professional Land Surveyor for over four decades.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Claudia Larkin (née Tomaszewski); his daughter, Caitlin (Patrick) Mest (née Larkin); his son, John (Erin) Haggerty-Larkin; his cherished grandsons, Declan Mest and Thomas Mest; and his brother, Robert (Rosemarie) Larkin; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Larkin and Rita (née Clark) Larkin; and siblings, Francis Larkin, Maryann Barth (née Larkin), and Thomas Larkin.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the family will welcome relatives and friends for a visitation at 9:30 a.m. at St. David Church, located at 316 Easton Rd., Willow Grove, PA. A memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the same location. A private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. David Church in Willow Grove or the Alzheimer’s Association.

John’s memory will live on in the love he gave, the journeys he embraced, and the family he treasured above all else.
