Joseph Patrick Thompson of North Wildwood, NJ and Barefoot Bay, FL passed away at home on August 25, 2020 after a brief but brave battle with ALS. Born on December 21, 1940, he was 79. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice M. Thompson, children Karen Thompson Plenn, Kevin M. Thompson (Eun Jee), Gregory J. Thompson, Brian F. Thompson (Chasity), Jerry Klett (Fran Mulholland), grandchildren Sean, Kaely, Eion, Aidan, Joseph Connor, Kyra, Kieran, Kimmie, Carly, Riley, Tristan and Michael. Also survived by his brothers John (Maryann) Tom (Carol)and Jim (Cindy). Predeceased by sister Marion and brother Bill. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Roman Catholic High school. He was a meat cutter for most of his life, retiring as Vice President of the UFCW local 152(56). Joe was a Fourth degree member assembly 1580 of the Knights of Columbus, Warminster, PA, Elks Lodge 1896 North Wildwood, NJ, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1764, Sebastian, FL, and Unofficial Mayor of 7th Avenue, North Wildwood.
Arrangements under the direction of John J.Bryers Funeral Home on SATURDAY AUGUST 29, 2020 at St. David’s Roman Catholic Church, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Visitation 9:30-10:30am, words of remembrance 10:45am, Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am.
Family and friends are invited to wear your Irish green in honor of Joe’s strong Irish heritage.
Interment private at a later date.
