Joseph William Gleave Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Joseph William Gleave, who departed this life on December 29, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on August 27, 1943, in Philadelphia, and lived a life marked by love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to family and friends.

Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anna Marie Gleave (Nee Carrigan), his children, Robyn Perry (Harry), Michael Rusch, Joanne Garcia (Angelo), Andrew Rusch (Kathy) and Melanie Myers (Martin) and by his loving grandchildren, Angela Garcia, Sherri Garcia, Christopher Nolte (Janet), Michael Rusch Jr., Anthony Nolte (Amanda), Samantha Soth (Matthew), Harry Clark Perry (Brittany), Christian Rusch, Andrew Rusch Jr., Angel Garcia, Meghan Rusch, Kacie Rusch, Hannah Laub, Molly Myers, and Marshall Myers.

Joe was the beloved Pop to his great grandchildren, Braylee McNeil, Zohee McNeil, Harry George Perry, Clayton Nolte, Melody Nolte, Chase Nolte, Kheane Soth, Harmony Nolte, Piper Perry and Chet Nolte.  He is also survived by his brothers, Tommy Gleave, Jimmy Gleave (Audry), and Robin Wisher.

Joe is also survived as well by a host of cherished cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Wisher (Nee Parker), his father Joseph Gleave and his stepfather Jim Wisher.

After graduation, Joe enlisted with the United States Marine Corp where he served in multiple capacities and various locations including a year in Iceland and received an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Sargeant.  He was proud of his service with the U.S. Marine Corps as demonstrated by his large collection of Marine Corps hats.

Joe had two long careers first as a long-haul truck driver for Teamsters Local #107 and then with the PA Turnpike Commission as a proud member of Teamsters Local #77.

Throughout his life, Joe was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan as well as serving his community in various ways.  For many years, Joe was a fixture at Upper Moreland Little League as an umpire, and as head groundskeeper. In his later years he spent much of his time back at the little league fields to watch his grandchildren play the game he loved as well as spending many hours in the theater and schools for his grandchildren’s events.  Joe also served as the Treasurer of the Upper Moreland Republican Association.

Joe and Annie went to Bethany Beach every September, and travelled together to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Hawaii and Ireland.  On many of these travels, they were joined by his beloved brother Tommy and sister-in-law Steffie. Joe also loved his time in Atlantic City, sitting at the slots, and seeing the Moody Blues live.

A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Saturday January 3rd at 9:30 am, with a mass at 10:30, at St. David’s Catholic Church in Willow Grove.   Burial will be help on Monday January 5, 2025 at 9:30 am, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
