Josephine Marie (Francisco) Gallo

April 9, 1923 – December 18, 2020 (age 97)

With her children and grandchildren by her side at home, Josephine “Jo” Gallo passed peacefully from this life to eternal glory on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was 97 years old.

Josephine was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St. David Church in Willow Grove, PA for 56 years since moving to Willow Grove in 1964.

Josephine is survived by her four children, Marianne, Margaret, Diane, and Joseph, Jr.; two grandchildren, Michael, and Alexandra; seven great grandchildren, Jesse, Harrison, Capella, Wendy, Charlotte, Alexander, and Ethan; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her greatest joys in life were her faith in Jesus Christ, attending Mass and other religious services in person (and then daily Mass on television as she became more home bound), reading her Bible and books about the lives of the Saints, and singing hymns. Josephine also enjoyed spending time with her family and family gatherings. Her great grandchildren were precious gifts from God. She was an avid movie goer and watcher; her favorite was a good old-fashioned murder mystery.

Josephine aspirations of studying dress design after graduating high school in 1941 were put aside as she assisted in the war effort wiring radios during WWII. Her creative talents were also expressed in many other ways: cooking, baking, sewing, needlework, drawing and painting, music appreciation and singing.

Josephine was a hard-working meek and humble Godly woman, wife, and mother. Although a bit shy, she loved people. Everyone who encountered her loved her as she extended the unconditional love of Jesus to all.

You are invited to attend Josephine’s Funeral Mass planned for Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at St. David’s Roman Catholic Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove at 10:30 a.m. Social distancing and face masks are required.

A private graveside burial for immediate family only will take place right after the Mass.

In lieu of flowers you may honor Josephine’s memory with a donation to Abington-Jefferson Home Hospice who have compassionately cared for Josephine and saw that she was treated with the utmost kindness, grace, and dignity.
