Leon T. Gonshor, 88, of Dresher, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 15, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Leon was the beloved husband of the late Helen Gonshor (nee Hocko) to whom he was happily married for 65 years.
He was survived by four children: Karen Bater, Lee Gonshor, Michael Gonshor (Franziska), and Mary Marin, and six grandchildren: Kristin Khan (Bilal), Alexandra Bater, Evan Gonshor, Nicholas Gonshor, Jessica Marin and Allison Marin.
Born July 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Mamie R. (nee Piorkowski) and Leo E. Gonshor.
Leon began his career in 1958 with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and was appointed the regional director of the Department of Environmental Resources, South East Region in 1978. He retired on April 7, 1992 after thirty-three years of dedicated service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Leon cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren and was fond of telling stories, especially about his travels. He enjoyed vacations spent with his family in Ocean City, NJ and Walt Disney World.
Later in life, following his retirement, he traveled extensively with his wife, visiting nearly all of the American wonders, and many European cities with a particular love of Paris, enjoying cafes with views of the Eiffel Tower.
He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. David's Catholic Church.
Leon was an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather. He lived his life with honor and integrity, and he will be forever remembered for his faith, compassion and love for his family.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday December 27, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at St. David's RC Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. A Mass of Catholic Burial will follow at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be private by the request of the family.
