Lois Kuscin Obituary

Lois Kuscin passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 12th at the age of 89.  Lois was the youngest of 6 children born to Herman and Emma Heim.  In fact ,she was 20 minutes younger than her “wombmate”, identical twin sister Emma Rumble.  Lois grew up in this large loving family that included brothers Howard, Hank and Dick, and sisters Mae and Emma.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.  A lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Lois grew up across the street from Wissinoming park and often spoke of fond memories playing with her siblings at the park.

Lois was a devoted wife to William Kuscin for 59 years until his death in 2016.  Lois was a loving mother who was absolutely adored by her children, William (Billy), Michael, Jim, Kenny and Lois Mary.  Lois was loving grandmother to Kristin, Melissa, Michael, Jennifer, and Christopher (FerFer).

Lois attended Saint Bartholomew Elementary School, Little Flower High School and St Mary’s School of Nursing.  Both Lois and Emma graduated as Registered Nurses in the same class.

Lois worked as an RN at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Northwood Nursing Home, Philadelphia Protestant Home, and the office of Norman Koven MD where she had the privilege of working with her niece Mary (Beezy) Musial.

Lois was a devout Catholic and had particular devotion to the Blessed Mother and was committed to praying the Rosary on a regular basis.  In addition to Saint Bartholomew, Lois was a member of Saint Martin, Saint Ambrose, Saint Mathew, and Saint Davids Parishes.   Mom served these parishes in many ways over her lifetime in roles such as Den Mother for the St Ambrose Cub Scouts and most recently as a Grief Counselor at Saint Mathews.
