Margaret Eleanor (Elliott) Hall, known by most as Peggy, or simply “Mother” died peacefully at her home on May 12, 2026. She was 104 years old.
Daughter of John and Katherine Elliott, Peggy was born in an old farmhouse in Willow Grove, PA on October 13, 1921. She was a welcome addition to a growing family that included five brothers and one sister – John, Percy, Thomas, Louis, Albert, and Catherine.
Peggy attended St. Davids Episcopal Church in Manayunk, and later St. Ann’s Church in Willow Grove where she was confirmed in 1936. Most recently, Peggy attended the Living Faith Fellowship in Souderton, PA.
Peggy was an active child, and often said that once she woke up, her feet rarely hit the floor. She enjoyed acrobatics and at the age of 15 demonstrated talent as a roller skater. Peggy met Frederick J. Hall at Willow Grove Park Roller Rink, and they were married on December 16, 1939.
Peggy and Fred had three sons, William J. Hall (1941), Frederick J. Hall (1946), and John A. Hall (1961). While raising the “loves of her life”, Peggy found her passion for roller skating competition. In 1965 she won a gold medal for state competition in the Esquire Division, and over the next six years she won many awards, most notably placing fourth in the Eastern Regionals.
By 1972, when Peggy was 51 years old, her father passed away and she decided that it was a “bit risky” to continue roller skating. Instead, she turned to ballroom dancing. She shared her talent by dancing and teaching until the pandemic in 2020, when she was 99 years old.
Peggy believed that activity was the key to her longevity and never allowed her age to dictate her choices. She has been dubbed the “rock of the family”, who despite hardships and challenges, always smiled and welcomed everyone into her circle with love.
Peggy is survived by her son John, of Souderton, PA, her grandson Michael Hall, of Columbus, Georgia, and many loving relatives and friends. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Fred; her son William and his wife Annie Nadine (Dena); her son Fred, and his wife Joe; and her granddaughter Stacey Whatly.
