Obituary Margaret Rowland Jerdan

Margaret  Rowland Jerdan (nee Rhoades)  (96) passed away June 15, 2026 in Springhouse Estates in Ambler PA. She previously resided at Gwynedd Estates for 30 years. She and Robert L. raised their children in Willow Grove PA. Margaret was born June 7, 1930 in Philadelphia PA. Margaret was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in West Philadelphia and Willow Grove United Methodist Church in Willow Grove, PA.

Margaret loved her family, her children, and serving her Lord in many ways. She volunteered for VBS, Sunday school, church choir, and various mission trips alongside her husband (Robert) and children for many years. She loved gardening, watching the birds at her kitchen window in Willow Grove and spending weekends and vacations at the family cabin in the Pocono Mountains. There she and her family were active member of a small community “church” which provided weekend activities, Sunday worship, hymn sings, and other social activities in the Pine Flats Community. She and her family made many life-long friends and memories at this special retreat in the woods.

Margaret lived a long and active life and will be greatly missed for her quiet and caring manner as she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Her example of a woman of God who shared her life, faith, musical talent, care for others and her unwavering support and confidence in her family was inspirational.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Robert L. Rowland (d.1993), and by her husband Linnaeus Jerdan (d.2009). She is survived by her children Nancy, Susan, Judith, Robert (and Joe), and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is also survived by many friends and relatives who were welcomed into the family home when they needed a temporary place to live and motherly care and support.  

A Memorial service will be planned at a later date to accommodate many family members currently on vacation. Memorial contributions will be indicated when the Memorial service is planned.
