Marie Anne Rheaume Obituary

Marie Anne Rheaume, age 91, of Willow Grove, PA passed away on May 11, 2025 at home and at peace.

She was born on February 26, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA. Marie was a graduate of Jules E. Mastbaum High School in Kensington. In 1955, she married Joseph A. Rheaume and they shared 24 years of marriage before his passing. Together, they had four children and spent much of their marriage traveling for Joseph’s work, living in and around the Philadelphia area, as well as brief stints in Delaware and New York.

Marie was, above all else, a devoted mother who dedicated her life to raising her four children with love and strength. Known for her quiet resilience, she stepped into the workforce as a receptionist after the passing of her husband, Joseph, becoming a single parent and provider. A natural homemaker, she later retired early to live with her youngest daughter and help care for the next generation. She found joy in creative pursuits—sewing, knitting, and embroidery—and lovingly crafted baby outfits for premature infants at Warminster Hospital. She founded a knitting club at the Roslyn Library and was active in the Common Bond organization. A lover of cats and a devourer of books, she was also known for her elegant penmanship and heartfelt letters. Later in life, she enjoyed attending local theater productions with her eldest daughter. Marie will be remembered as a sweet woman, gentle yet strong, who made friends wherever she went and had a lifetime of stories to share when you took the time to listen.

Marie is survived by two daughters, Jeanette M. Harvey (Raymond) of Willow Grove, Charlotte A. Westermann (Timothy) of Abington, and one son, Joseph A. Rheaume (Janet), as well as seven grandchildren, and multiple great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Louis A. Rheaume and her brother, Joseph W. Perry.

A funeral service will be held on May 19, 2025 at Bryer’s Funeral Home at 406 Easton Road in Willow Grove, PA. Visitation from 11am to 11:30am, with a service by Pastor Weldon beginning at 11:30am. A private interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler.

In lieu of flowers, the memorial contributions in Marie’s name can be made to the Abington Township Public Library, the library network that houses the Roslyn Library: https://www.abingtonfreelibrary.org/donate
