Mark Phillips

With sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. Mark Joseph Phillips, age 69, of Pottstown, PA.   Mr. Phillips passed away peacefully at Abington Hospital on May 13, 2025. Mark was born on March 19, 1956, in Abington PA to James Vincent Phillips & Lucy Marie Phillips. Mark grew up in Huntingdon Valley with a love for seeing, hearing and riding the Reading Railroad as the train station adjoined the family home.

Mark is survived by his siblings Andrea Torok, Michael Phillips and Lucy Anne Phillips and predeceased by brother James Vincent Phillips. The whole family cared for him with love and always had a watchful eye for his safety.  His loss is mourned by his immediate family, but also by those who loved and cared for him in his home at Ken Crest. Mark was a part of the Ken crest family for 43 years, initially living at Rivercrest and then moving to his current home in Pottstown in 1993 where he maintained close relationships with both his housemates and staff.

In an era when special needs were excluded from educational programs Mark was a pioneer in the dawn of mainstream education and graduated from Lower Moreland Senior High School in 1975. The same year that Gerald Ford signed a bill to open classroom doors for children with disabilities that gave dignity to those with special needs.

Mark was well loved for his enthusiasm for life. He was quick to greet others with his amazing heartwarming smile and enjoyed sharing his love of trains, buses, trucks and all things that moved. He loved to spend time watching buses and trains at local transportation centers and was always up for an adventure. His love for travel started early in life flying to Alaska in 1982 with his parents.  He enjoyed his vacations such as trips to beach, cruises and train rides. He was an avid Star Trek fan and enjoyed sharing this and his love of trains with people who visited his home.

Mark was a true blessing those who knew him, he and his joy and enthusiasm for life and will be remembered fondly by those who were fortunate enough to have had their lives touched by him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Wednesday June 4, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:15am at St. David RC Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove PA 19090.

Memorial Mass will follow at 10:30am.

Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
