McMaster
Richard Louis, age 76, of Hatboro, passed away at peace on January 15, 2021. Born June 15, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Melvin K. and Lois McMaster. Rich was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Scarinci, his brother Melvin K. McMaster, Jr. (Patricia), and his sister Ruth Furman (Albert). He is survived by a host of loved ones, nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Rich was the proud father of Maureen Ann Isett, Teresa Lynn Smith (Greg), Richard Louis McMaster, II (Jessica), and Christina Elizabeth Perez. He loved each of them deeply. He was blessed with thirteen grandchildren-Ashley, Mike, Sarah, Bella, Sabrena, Slater, Skylar, Reef, Quinn, Hailey, Emory, Avery, and Eli. Rich was grateful to welcome four great-grandchildren within in his lifetime -Sophia, Maddie, Gracie, and Carlee.
Early on, Richard worked for Standard Press Steel and Tose Trucking. He was a reservist with the National Guard from 1969 to 1973, where he developed self-discipline, leadership skills, and a strong work ethic. Rich went on to serve with the Lower Moreland Police Department for over 26 years. He was a patrol officer, a detective, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant very early on in his career with the department. Rich was nominated for the FBI National Academy professional course (for police officers with demonstrated leadership qualities) and graduated with the class of 1990. He was a leader, friend, father figure, and mentor to many throughout his years as a public servant and beyond.
Shortly after his retirement from the police force in 1999, he started another career at Kitchen and Bath Wholesalers where he worked as a Shipping Manager, Sales Associate, and Safety Manager until 2012.
Rich lived life to the fullest. He loved sailing, entertaining family and friends in his home, and travelling. When he wasn’t tending to yard work, home maintenance, or car care, he was out helping family, friends, or neighbors. Rich was always looking for new opportunities to be productive even after retirement from the work force.
Rich had a difficult road towards the end, but he lived every day with grace, gratitude, courage, and hope for the future. A memorial service will be held later when we can celebrate his life with loved ones and friends.
