Obituary
Roger G. Myers passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025. He was born on 8/10/1941 in Ambler and throughout his remarkable life, touched the hearts of everyone he met through his work and community service.
Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and dog dad, who brought fun and laughter into every room. He had a passion for volunteering, veteran’s organizations, community service, golf, billiards, the Jersey Shore, and he was a huge Eagles fan. Roger was well known for his sense of humor, infectious smile, service to others and his persistent determination.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Reutemann Myers, adored daughter Deanna (Dave) Scaler and his cherished grandchildren, Alex (Amanda) Scaler and Gab Scaler. He was preceded in death by his parents Gladys Gordon and Jack Myers, as well as his dear sister, Lynn Wilson.
Roger proudly graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1961, where he was voted “Best Looking” by his classmates. Following, he served his country for 5+ years in the U.S. Air Force, which later in led him to the Willow Grove VFW, Post 3612. Roger was employed as the General Manager of the VFW from 1979 to 2015, until he suffered a severe stroke.
Roger’s community service included being a member of Jaycee’s, the Willow Grove Senior Citizen Board, Willow Grove Charities, member and Past Chair of the Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Board member and Past President of Willow Grove Rotary, where he was the honorary “fine” chairman for several years. Additionally, he was also a member and Past President of the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce, where he received the 1990 Humanitarian Award. Roger also served as a board member and President of C.A.P.T. (Citizens and Police Together) in Abington Township and was a long-time member of the American Legion.
In 2013, Roger was named “The Philadelphia Stroke Survivor of the Year” and in 2014, Roger was honored with the Commanders Award by the North Penn VFW, Post 676, for his mentorship and ensuring that veterans receive the best services and resources, He will always be remembered for making the veterans’ well-being, his utmost priority.
The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living and Heartland Hospice for their extraordinary care and concern for Roger.
For those interested, the family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 6 pm to 8 pm at John J. Bryers Funeral Home, 406 Easton Road, Willow Grove.
Also on Friday, Oct. 24 there will be a Celebration of Life (Open House) at Roger’s beloved Willow Grove VFW, from 3pm to 7pm. Please wear your Eagles in memory of Roger.
