Ruth Albrecht Obituary

RUTH ALBRECHT OBITUARY

 1927-2021

Ruth Elizabeth (Mundy) Albrecht, 94, most recently a resident of the Artman Lutheran Home, Ambler, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on December 18, 2021.  Previously, she was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre and Bear Creek.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Collins) Mundy.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her brother, Joseph; and sisters, Margaret (Bristol), Regina (Vallina), and Rita (Simonetti).  She is survived by her favorite daughter, Lori, and husband, Ed Grivner, and grandsons, Christopher and Andrew Grivner, all of Oreland, PA.

She was a graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School and attended business school.  She worked for Bell of Pennsylvania and its successors, starting her employment as a phone operator and working in numerous positions, prior to working in the business office at her retirement in 1987.  She attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, prior to its closure, and was an active member of the “cookie bakers” who made and sold Welsh cookies to benefit the church and other charitable organizations.  She was an avid reader and strong supporter of the Osterhout Library and its programs for senior citizens.  She also enjoyed crafting and knit cherished stockings for her grandkids and many beautiful ornaments for the family Christmas tree.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Osterhout Free Library, Artman Benevolent Care Fund, the Alzheimer’s Association, or charity of the donor’s choice.

There will be no visitation.  Graveside services will be held on Monday December 27, 2021 at 11:30am at Hanover Green Cemetery,  689 Main Road, Hanover Township, PA 18706.
