Sylvus "Nick" Cataldi
2/14/42-9/29/23
Sylvus "Nick" Cataldi of Chalfont, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents Sylve N. Cataldi and Mary T. (Bove) Seiz, also his sisters Johann (Cataldi) Hendricks and Kathy Cataldi. He is survived by his wife Rosann (Lucci) Cataldi, and his brothers Richard (Lin) Cataldi of Hatboro and Phillip Cataldi of California; his children Paul (Diane) Cataldi, Steven (Beth) Cataldi, Michelle Slider, Sherry Borek, Angelina (Michael) Castor, Maryann (Michael) Valentino, Gary (Tammi) Milos. Also survived by sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Nick was a true patriot and proud Navy Veteran having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Some of his fondest memories were recalling his experiences aboard the USS Hazelwood during a flotilla heading toward Cuba during a time of unrest in this country.
His love of heavy equipment led to a career as a heavy equipment mechanic that spanned 50 plus years, with the Local 542 Union of Operating Engineers. He always boasted that if you enjoyed what you did for a living, it wasn't actually work, it was a way of life.
Nick was religious, his faith in God was absolute, and under his gruff exterior was a God-fearing, Bible reading, gentle man who loved God, family and his country. He will be sorely missed.
Interment will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023 promptly at 2pm, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road in Newtown, PA 18940. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers, in his honor.
