William (Bill) Patrick Thompson, 77 passed away peacefully on July 10, 2019, surrounded by the love of family and friends after a long and brave battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Marion Shetzline (nee Thompson), and is survived by his brothers John (Maryann), Thomas (Carol), Joseph (Janice), James (Cindy), 22 nieces and nephews, and 75 great nieces and nephews. He was everyone’s favorite uncle, always generous with his wisdom, counsel and love. Bill was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1960 and attended La Salle University. He served in the Army, then worked in the sporting goods industry for many years. He eventually made his home in Buckingham, PA. Bill was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, and spending time at the Jersey shore. He was the family historian, especially knowledgeable about the Thompson family Irish heritage. Bill always had a song in his heart, a story to tell and a smile to share. He loved life, was blessed with many good friends whom he cherished, and who loved and accompanied him along the way. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Monday July 15, 2019 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA, 18901. Visitation in church from 10am to 10:45am.
Internment will be private at a later date
